Center for Women’s Leadership
Through dedicated research, education and skill training, the Center for Women’s Leadership empowers women in Oregon to embrace their voice, lead confidently, and change the narrative of women in leadership. The Center runs the Girls: Oregon, Action, Leadership, Service program. The YWCA of Greater Portland and Girls Inc of the Pacific NW are co-conveners.
Traci has spent her career in service to women and emerging student leaders. Prior to joining the Center, Traci led Innovative Changes, which provides financial knowledge, products and services to overlooked and underserved communities, including women and communities of color. Prior to that role, she was vice president for programs at the “I Have a Dream” Foundation – Oregon, where she built out then led the first Dreamer School in the country.

Bernice Benade joined the Center for Women’s Leadership as a student worker in 2013. Bernice graduated from Portland State University with a B.S in Business Administration with a focus in Management, Leadership & Human Resources. Prior to transferring to Portland State University, Bernice received her Associates degree from Portland Community College. She is also a 2014 NEW Leadership Oregon Alumna
Teen Program Coordinator & Community Solutions Fellow
Noel Lutomia is a Volunteer Project Coordinator for Acacia in Kenya; a position she has held for close to ten years. Noel empowers young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds in rural Kenya to access education through provision of scholarships, books, stationery, clean water and sanitation, reusable sanitary pads and life skills. Noel is passionate about the empowerment of girls and young women. She is an expert in project management. She also works as a project manager for a consultancy firm in her hometown. Noel received her Bachelors of Business Management from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in 2008 and an M.A. in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi in 2012. Through her volunteer work Noel has watched over more than 300 girls in her community successfully go through high school education and 10 through the university. When she is not working, Noel loves to cook, read, listen to music and visit new places.
Noel is currently attached to the Center for Women’s Leadership in Portland Oregon as part of her Community Solutions Program Fellowship. Upon completion of her fellowship Noel has two action plans, one to start a High School Girls Summit program for high school girls in her community and secondly, to facilitate teaching of entrepreneurship, life skills, critical thinking and problem solving to young women through a technical girls’ college.
